Understanding the ANU co-curricular and service requirements

Your academic success is only one part of who you are, so at ANU we ask you to meet co-curricular or service (CCS) requirements in your application which demonstrate your involvement in experiences outside the classroom.

You will need to meet our CCS, academic and program-related requirements to be eligible to receive an offer to study from us.

Your activities

You can use a wide range of extracurricular activities to meet the CCS requirements in your Australian National University (ANU) application.

Supporting documents

You will need to provide documents that verify your participation in co-curricular or service requirements (CCS) activities with your application.

Your application

Before you submit your application, double-check that you have completed the CCS requirements section and uploaded your supporting documentation.

Which activities can I use?

You can use a range of activities from Years 10–12 to demonstrate that you’ve met our co-curricular or service requirement (CCS), including sport, a paid job, volunteering, school clubs, creative competitions, student exchanges and more.

How to upload your documents

In your application, you will need to:

  1. choose up to five CCS activities you took part in during Years 10 to 12.
  2. check they meet two of the skills outcomes in the ANU co-curricular or service schedule.
  3. attach/upload supporting documentation.

Which activities count?

To meet the CCS requirements, your activities need to demonstrate that you have met two of the following skills:

  1. Community engagement
  2. Inclusion and awareness of diversity
  3. Communication
  4. Leadership
  5. Personal responsibility
  6. Teamwork
  7. Creative and critical thinking
