This hands-on, participatory workshop will be held in the ANU Classics Museum's brand-new Object-Based Learning Room (adjacent to the museum), housing their hands-on teaching collection. The hands-on collection stems from archaeological excavations undertaken at the Hellenistic site of Jebel Khalid in Syria. This 30-minute workshop will provide visitors with the opportunity to handle ancient objects including ceramics, glass, metals and sculptural fragments representing the everyday domestic and cultural life of the residents of an ancient town on the banks of the Euphrates. Participants will gain first-hand knowledge of how object-based teaching is central to the student experience in Classical Studies at ANU. Booking essential and numbers strictly limited. Participants to meet in the Classics Museum.
