Sweet Bones Bakery and Cafe has been a cornerstone of Canberra’s vegan café scene since 2011. Fifteen years on, now set up at the Scullin Shops, they’re basically plant-based royalty. The menu covers all bases, from burgers and nachos to cinnamon rolls and cupcakes. Coffee and matcha are also taken seriously here, with every alternative milk you could want, and the space itself is relaxed and genuinely comfy.
Sweet Bones is also a fully functioning vegan bakery, with custom cakes and cupcakes available for birthdays, celebrations or any excuse that calls for cake. We can confirm, they are amazing.

AuLac Vegan Cuisine
AuLac Vegan Cuisine serves vegan takes on Vietnamese cooking, with a menu that leans into bold flavours without feeling overworked. The Food Co-op sits right on the ANU campus and is a long-running favourite for affordable vegan food in Canberra. It keeps things simple, accessible and values-led, doubling as both a café and a genuine community space. If you care about where your food comes from and how it’s made, this one makes sense.
The menu changes daily, usually rotating between curries, salads and baked treats that are filling without feeling heavy.
