Campus living at ANU, now open to more students

We have a confession. We’re not entirely exclusive. You don’t need to be an ANU student to live on campus here. If you are already studying elsewhere in Canberra, or your studies or research have brought you to the national capital, our doors are open.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to live in ANU residences as a nonANU student, you must:

  • Be enrolled in a coursework or research program at another university or institution.
  • Provide proof of your enrolment or participation.
  • Have completed the ANU Rights, Relationship and Respect module or an equivalent at your university or institution.
  • Agree to the Occupancy Agreement for non-ANU students.

How to apply

  1. Create an account in the ANU Accommodation Portal. Register your details to begin your application.
  2. Select the accommodation intake you wish to apply for.
  3. When you are competing your application, please indicate you are a student at another university or institution when asked to do so.
  4. Complete the supplementary form for non-ANU students. Details are provided during the application process.
  5. Submit your application and supplementary form and wait for your outcome email. We’ll assess your application, verify eligibility and contact you with next steps.
  6. Accept your offer and pay acceptance fees. Once your offer is issued, finalise your room by accepting online and completing your upfront payments.

FAQs

Students who are enrolled at other universities or institutions, both in Australia and overseas, may be eligible for accommodation at ANU.

You’ll need to upload documentation confirming your enrolment or participation in an eligible program. This may include an enrolment letter, offer letter, or program confirmation from your institution. You will also need to complete the ANU Rights, Relationship and Respect module, or provide evidence of completion of an equivalent module at your university or institution.

You will be able to indicate your preferred contract dates when you apply. Please note that accommodation offers are typically aligned to semesters or the full academic year. Some applicants may also be eligible to extend their stay, subject to room availability.

You will pay the same weekly tariff as ANU students.
