In most cases, domestic applicants are eligible to change their preferences before receiving an offer of admission.
‘Change of preference’ is the opportunity for you to re-order or add new programs to the list of preferences in your ANU application. It's important to prioritise your preferences to ensure the best possible outcome for you. ANU will assess your preferences from your first preference (the program you want to study the most) to your fifth preference (the program you want to study the least).
Please view the key dates on the Key dates for Early Offer applications page.
If you receive an early offer from ANU and accept it, please ensure to keep the degree program in that offer on your preference list. ANU guarantees your place in that degree if you complete Year 12 with an ATAR within the application year.
If you change or reorder your preferences after the early offer round, your application will be reassessed based on your new preference set. If you are eligible for a new preference, your early offer will be replaced by the final offer in December/January.
Changing your preference could impact your scholarship eligibility. Please ensure to contact the ANU Scholarship team if you change your preference.
When the application portal opens, you can log in to your application to set your preferences. This will occur before the application submission deadline and after the early offer round. Please refer to the Key Dates for Early Offer applications for more details.
ANU grants early offers based on your highest eligible preference. If you did not receive an offer for your top preference, you were not eligible for that program during the early offer stage. At the final offer stage, we will reassess your preferences using your Year 11 or Year 12 ANU selection rank, whichever is higher. We will issue an offer for one of your higher preferences if you are eligible.
Please note: ANU will not make any further offers for the Bachelor of Health Science will be made through the early offer application process. You will not be able to add this program as a preference.
Please accept the early offer and move the offered program as your first preference. Upon successful completion of Year 12 and receipt of an ATAR, you will receive a full offer for that program.
No. You are unable to hold multiple ANU offers. If you change or re-order your preferences, we will reassess your application using the order of your new preferences. If you are eligible for a preference that is higher than your early offer preference, ANU will replace your early offer with a new offer in December/January. This means that you will no longer be able to confirm acceptance of your early offer.
The change of preference deadlines for UAC applications relates to your application period. Please visit the UAC key dates web page for more information on application timelines.
