How to apply

If you are thinking about applying to ANU, you are off to a great start. You can find information regarding the application processes for Undergraduate programs here.

Step 1: Understand the admission requirements

Before applying to ANU, it's important to have an understanding of the admissions process and requirements related to your application. Admission requirements may vary for different programs. Some programs have specific requirements, such as prerequisites or additional selection criteria (e.g. a portfolio for Visual Arts). Please refer to the information on Programs and Courses for requirements specific to your chosen program.

Step 2: Select the correct application portal

For domestic undergraduate applicants, ANU provides two application portals.

  1. Early Offer Application portal- This is for the applicants who have completed Australian Year 11 studies/IB program for Year 11 and will complete Australian Year 12 with an ATAR/IB Diploma in the November session.
  2. UAC application portal—This is for applicants who
    • Are completing IB May session or other international qualifications; or
    • Are a non-current school leaver, or
    • Have completed a tertiary preparation course, or
    • Have completed a VET qualification at AQF level 5 or higher qualification, or
    • Want to transfer to ANU from another University (completed 1 year FTE), or
    • Have employment experience, or
    • Are applying to ANU through the Special Adult Entry Scheme

Step 3: Start your application

Once you find the correct portal, you can begin your application process by registering. Each portal has its own unique application process.

For the Early Offer Application, you can find more information about the application process by clicking here.

For the UAC application process, please click here. UAC applicants who would like to apply for accommodation and scholarships are required to submit separate applications.

Step 4: Submitting your application

The application deadlines vary between portals. Please ensure you submit the application by the specified deadline.

For the Early Offer Application, please click here to see the timeline.

UAC Application deadlines depend on the offer round. ANU only participates in selected offer rounds each intake. To find out the selected offer rounds for your intake, please refer to the institutions participating in offer rounds webpage. For specific deadlines, refer to the UAC key dates webpage UAC key dates webpage.

Step 5: Receiving an offer

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer directly from ANU or UAC, depending on your application portal. You have the option to accept, defer, or decline your offer.
