New semester, new you? Maybe. New study spot? Definitely.

The Australian National University (ANU) campus is bigger than Vatican City, so you won’t run out of places to open your laptop. The tricky part is finding the spot that perfectly matches your energy and vibe.

So, we asked the stars for some advice. Find your sign, claim your spot and get ready for a semester full of HDs.

Aries (21 March to 19 April)

Your spot: A group study room at the Marie Reay Teaching Centre

You’re the one who starts the shared doc, assigns the roles and sends the first reminder. Book a room with a whiteboard and let everyone else catch up.

Study ritual: Timer on, door shut, first to finish.

A study room means business and Aries, it’s calling your name.

Taurus (20 April to 20 May)

Your spot: The outdoor tables at LAB café

You don't do anything on an empty stomach, and you see no reason to make readings the exception. A flat white and a sunny table, and you'll stay longer than you planned.

Study ritual: Flat white, warm pastry, speed read.

A little caffeine fuel is all you need, Taurus.

Gemini (21 May to 20 June)

Your spot: A table on Joplin Lane in Kambri

Silence makes you restless. Joplin Lane gives you background noise, something to eat and at least three people you know walking past.

Study ritual: New subject, new table, quick chat.

A view of Joplin Lane at night with street signage lighting up the exterior seats.

Gemini, the beautiful chaos of Joplin Lane is going to keep you beautifully entertained.

Cancer (21 June to 22 July)

Your spot: The Hanna Neumann Building

You study the way you watch a movie at home: same seat, super comfortable layers and no surprises. The nooks in the home of the Mathematical Sciences Institute are quiet and super cosy.

Study ritual: Same study nook, same hoodie, all semester.

Hanna Neumann is always so cosy, so you’ll find your happy study spot, Cancer.

Leo (23 July to 22 August)

Your spot: The beanbags on Kambri lawns

You do your clearest thinking in the sun, and you don’t mind being seen doing it. Spread out and let the knowledge come to you.

Study ritual: Spring sun, sunscreen, sunglasses on.

Ready to sunbathe, Leo? Yep, we thought so.p>

Virgo (23 August to 22 September)

Your spot: Chifley Library

Long tables, ordered shelves and a silence everyone respects. Chifley is a proper library in the old-fashioned sense, and you'll appreciate the order of it.

Study ritual: Colour-coded notes, aesthetic pens, total silence.

Don’t worry Virgo, it’s organised and everything is following a system, just how you like it.

Libra (23 September to 22 October)

Your spot: Biginelli's Coffee at Llewellyn Hall

For you, the setting matters as much as the work. Afternoon light through the windows, music students passing through and a coffee within reach are a reasonable place to start.

Study ritual: Clear desk, matching highlighters, lock in.

Super aesthetically pleasing and everybody likes a chat. Perfect for you, Libra.

Scorpio (23 October to 21 November)

Your spot: The R.N Robertson Building

You work in private and you work intensely. The R.N Robertson Building is full of corners to disappear into, and it's home to Little Pickle, a café people feel strongly about. You'll understand.

Study ritual: Phone away, headphones on, location off.

Scorpio, there’s plenty of corners here for you to be your mysterious self.

Sagittarius (22 November to 21 December)

Your spot: Along Sullivans Creek

You've never finished a reading in the same place you started it. Sullivans Creek runs through the middle of campus, so a change of scene is only ever a few benches away.

Study ritual: Lecture recording in one ear, a slow lap of the creek, notes at the next bench.

A female ANU student walks outside on campus with Sullivans Creek in the distance.

Sullivans Creek is one of our heart lines, so you can always keep moving Sagittarius.

Capricorn (22 December to 19 January)

Your spot: Upstairs at the Research School of Social Sciences

You read the course outline before week one and have quietly planned around it since. Upstairs, you'll be working alongside researchers who did the same thing a decade ago.

Study ritual: Early start, clear goals, tomorrow’s list written.

Capricorn, you’ll be among organised and prepared friends at RSSS.

Aquarius (20 January to 18 February)

Your spot: The Psychology Building courtyard

Crowds are fine in theory. In practice, you'd take a courtyard with trees and nobody you know. This one sits just far enough from Kambri to hear yourself think.

Study ritual: One topic, explained aloud, no notes.

Autumn leaves fall on picnic table and chairs in the ANU Psychology Building courtyard.

This is a super zen part of our campus, Aquarius. Perfect for your piece of mind.

Pisces (19 February to 20 March)

Your spot: The shores of Lake Burley Griffin

Most of your thinking happens while staring into the middle distance. Lake Burley Griffin is about a 15-minute walk from campus and has plenty of distance to stare into.

Study ritual: Paper notes, no charger, a whole afternoon.

The water is calling for you, Pisces. You can’t swim in LBG but you can absolutely admire the view.
