We recognise that new beginnings can sometimes present unexpected challenges and perhaps navigating through your new life is harder than expected. As supporting the welfare and comfort of our community remains our priority, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to apply for an interhall transfer for Semester 2.
To be eligible for an interhall transfer, you must be a current enrolled ANU student, not have debt on your accommodation account, not be in breach of your Occupancy Agreement, have completed the Rights, Relationships, and Respect (RRR) module, and have signed a full-year contract.
An application link will be sent to current residents via email on Monday 15 April 2024. Please use this link. Do not apply through the accommodation portal.
You will not be required to pay an application fee. However, if your application to transfer is successful, you will need to pay the room move fee and the departure cleaning fee. For more information on costs associated with your transfer, you can refer to the Schedule of Fees.
If you are moving from one ANU residence to another ANU residence, your room deposit will be transferred across automatically. If you are transferring to or from an affiliate residence, such as Burgman College, you will receive a refund of your room deposit (if eligible). Following the refund, you will be required to pay the deposit to your new residence.
The contracts will align with the start of Semester 2 accommodation term, commencing on 15 July 2024. Your new residence will provide you with a specific timeframe when you will be required to move closer to the contract start date. Depending on the availability and operational circumstances of each residence, you may have the option to move prior to 15 July 2024.
No, you will not need to pay the 3% uplift. Your weekly tariff will be the basic weekly tariff as listed on the Residential Fee Summary.
Should you struggle within the community despite receiving appropriate support from the wellbeing team, you may be eligible for an out-of-session transfer. If your application for an interhall transfer isn't successful, you will continue residing in your current accommodation. We encourage you to engage with your residential wellbeing team during this time to explore ways to enhance your experience or to consider requesting an out-of-session transfer.
Unfortunately, this deadline cannot be extended as our team requires sufficient time to process and review each application. If you have experienced extenuating circumstances that prevented you from apply before the deadline, we encourage you to reach out to your residence.
You are allowed to submit only one interhall transfer application. Submitting more than one application may result in your applications being voided and could jeopardise your chances of transferring residences.
Please do not apply for a Semester 2 application term. The only way to transfer residences is via the interhall transfer process. Submitting a Semester 2 application may result in your applications being voided and could jeopardise your chances of transferring residences.
Occasionally, our accommodation portal may experience technical issues during peak application periods. If you experience any such issues, please contact Accommodation Services. We are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You can reach us by emailing, calling us at 02 6125 1100, or visiting us in-person at the Student Central Annexure in Kambri.
To access the correct application term, please use the specific link that was emailed to you when applications opened. Accessing the application portal through any other means may lead you to an incorrect application pathway. This protocol is in place to maintain the integrity of our application process and ensure that it remains exclusive to our current residents.
You can pay your acceptance fees by visiting your new residence’s reception or by calling them during their opening hours. Unfortunately, this payment cannot be made online.
Once you have accepted your offer, opting out may not be possible as your spot could be allocated to another transfer resident or a new student starting in Semester 2. We highly advise you to carefully consider your decision before accepting the offer, as we cannot guarantee the availability of your previous spot.
While every attempt is made to accommodate our residents’ first preferences, this is not always possible. Due to the limited availability of our residences, we can only accommodate transfers where there is enough availability. If you are experiencing extenuating circumstances, we encourage you to contact your wellbeing team for assistance and support.
Absolutely! We encourage you to tour the residence you are considering transferring to before submitting an application. You can schedule a tour with our team by emailing or phoning us on 02 6125 1100.
