About this scholarship
Each year the ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy may offer a number of awards known as the ANU Law Indigenous Justice and Education Grant.
The objective of the Award is to provide financial assistance to law students to undertake Indigenous justice course or project within the College.
Funding for this Award has been provided by the College and its generous donors.

The Award is available each year to a continuing ANU student who (at the time of application):
- is a domestic or international student;
- is enrolled in one of the following programs offered by the ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy:
- Bachelor of Laws (Honours) as a single or Flexible Double Degree (FDD Law);
- Juris Doctor;
- Master of Laws;
- Master of International Law and Diplomacy;
- Master of Financial Management and Law;
- Graduate Certificate of Law;
- Graduate Certificate of New Technologies Law; and
- has applied for, been offered a place in, and intends to undertake in 2025 a self-arranged internship at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA).

Only applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria will be considered. Selection is made on the basis of academic merit and the suitability of the candidate for the opportunity they applied for, based on the information provided in their application for the Award.
The committee will consider the following criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to understanding and pursuing Indigenous justice;
- Demonstrated to commitment to developing Indigenous Cultural Competency (applicable to non-Indigenous students);
- Relevant past experience and skills (including any barriers faced that prevented a student getting that experience); and
- Relational skills or aptitudes such as empathy and compassion.
The value of the award is up to $2,200, paid in one instalment upon submission of the final approved travel application for the course, unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer. The award would normally be used to assist with airfares, accommodation and day-to-day living expenses to undertake the course or project.
