About this scholarship
Each year the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics in the ANU College of Science and Medicine may offer an award known as the Bok Honours Year Scholarship in Astrophysics.
The objective of the award is to support students with an outstanding academic record to undertake their Honours year in Astronomy and Astrophysics with the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics in the ANU College of Science and Medicine.
Funding for this award has been provided by Mr John Bok and Mrs Joyce Ambruster in memory of Professor Bart J. Bok. Professor Bart J. Bok was Director of the Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatories from 1957 to 1966 and Professor of Astronomy at the Australian National University.

The award is available each year to a prospective or continuing ANU student who:
(a) is a domestic or international student; and
(b) is enrolled/enrolling in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Honours Year within the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics in the ANU College of Science and Medicine.

How to apply
Applicants submit applications once per year for selection prior to Semester 1. Application deadline is 15th December for students enrolled/enrolling in an Honours year with RSAA in Semester 1 of the following year. Download the application form and referee form template from the link below.
Students send an email to coursework.scholarships@anu.edu.au containing:
- the completed scholarship application form;
- a short CV (1 page);
- a copy of all academic transcripts (not required for current ANU students)
Students contact two referees with the referee template (available in the "Apply Now" link). Referees should complete the report and send it directly to coursework.scholarships@anu.edu.au .
Note, applicants are not required to secure a research supervisor prior to submitting this application. New Honours students will be given the opportunity to select a supervisor after commencing in the program. If you have already secured a supervisor, they can be a referee and submit a report.

The value of the award is stated in your letter of offer. The duration of the award is two consecutive full-time academic semesters. The award is paid in two instalments, one at the beginning of each semester, unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer.
An additional allowance may be available for the successful applicant who transfers enrolment to the ANU for the honours year and whose permanent place of residence is outside of the Australian Capital Territory.
The recipient is responsible for making payment of all tuition fees by the prescribed date as set out by the University each session. Recipients of this award are responsible for the costs of books, study materials, accommodation and all other costs of study.
