About this scholarship
Each year, the Research School of Earth Sciences within the ANU College of Science and Medicine may offer an award known as the Dr Matthew Valetich Honours Scholarship in Geoscience.
The objective of the Award is to provide financial assistance to a student undertaking their honours year in geoscience.
Funding for this Award has been provided by Anglo American Exploration (Australia) Pty Limited in honour of Dr Matthew Valetich, a PhD graduate of the Research School of Earth Sciences.

Eligibility
The Award is available each year to a commencing or continuing ANU student who:
- is a domestic or international student;
- receives an offer of admission to a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours), or Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours) program within the ANU College of Science and Medicine,
- is enrolled in an Honours research project based in the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). Supervision by staff from other ANU research schools within the ANU College of Science and Medicine is permitted and encouraged; and
- can demonstrate financial hardship that may impact their ability to commence, continue, or complete their studies.
Additional information
The value of the Award is stated in your letter of offer. The duration of the Award is twelve months. The Award is paid in equal instalments after the census date each semester unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer.
The recipient is responsible for making payment of all tuition fees by the prescribed date as set out by the University each session. Recipients of the Award are responsible for the costs of books, study materials, accommodation and all other costs of study.
