About this scholarship
The ARC Training Centre for Future Crops is working directly with industry and the community to train the next generation of research and industry leaders to deliver impactful projects with real-world implications for food security.
Students in plant science and communication in science will have opportunities to engage with industry partners and communities on projects to improve the yield and nutritional value of the crops that underpin the energy and protein content of the human diet.
Together, the Centre will build future R&D capabilities in the Agrifood sector to drive growth, productivity and competitiveness for the benefit of agriculture and global food security. These scholarships will enable students to pursue a PhD program conducting research that is either a core project within the Centre, or closely aligns with the strategic directions of the Centre, based in the College of Science.

Eligibility
The Award is available each year to a prospective domestic or international ANU student who:
- is enrolling full-time in a program of study for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, based in the ANU College of Science; and
- has been awarded a first-class honours or equivalent; and
- is undertaking one of the core Centre PhD research projects, or a project approved by the Centre Executive.
Students will be offered a comprehensive program of training and support within the Training Centre.We ask that students are then involved with the broader Training Centre community in the following capacities:
- Active participation in outreach activities of the Training Centre including the Centre annual meeting.
- Take on leadership roles in the preparation, coordination and running of Training Centre EMCR committees, meetings, conferences and retreats (will be supported by other Centre members).
- Participate in, and contribute to the development of, Centre training activities.
- Remain engaged with both industry and academic partners within the Centre training program.
The supervisory panel will consist of at least on Centre Chief Investigator, unless otherwise approved by the Centre Executive.
We hope the recipient(s) remain open and willing to engage with the Centre, Centre partners, training and events, and there is mutual benefit in doing so.
