Eligibility

 
The Award is available each year to current ANU student who:
  1. is a domestic student; and
  2. is enrolled in one of the following programs (no restriction on subplans):
    • Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability
    • Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability (Advanced) (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Science
    • Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours); and
  3. has completed a minimum of 72 units of studies in their program; and
  4. has an interest in developing a career in forestry and plantation management.

The recipients of the HVP Plantations Forestry Grant gain industry recognition, financial award and opportunity to work within the sector via summer internships. The Forestry sector requires a broad range of graduate skills and knowledge. Graduates from listed programs here routinely acquire those skills but often overlook the employment opportunities.

Applications should comprise: 
  1.  A covering letter addressing the selection criteria (eligibility, academic achievement, and interest in a career in forestry and plantation management), 
  2. A curriculum vitae, 
  3. A statement of academic results or academic transcript.

Selection is made on the basis of applicants meeting the eligibility criteria, academic merit and the quality of the responses outlining the applicant's interest in a career in forestry and plantation management. 
 
The Award is offered to a student by a selection committee chaired by the Director of the Fenner School of Environment & Society, which will also include the convenors of ENVS1003 and ENVS3041, the Associate Director of Education of the Fenner School of Environment & Society.
 
The selection committee reserves the right to make no award if it considers there is no applicant of sufficient merit. The selection committee may also vary the number of Awards and/or offer the Award at other times in exceptional circumstances or based on the standard of applications or students (where funds allow).
