Eligibility
The Scholarship shall be available for award each year to a domestic student who:
- is successful in gaining entry into the Honours year of an undergraduate program offered by the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific;
- will undertake research on a suitable topic in Traditional Chinese Studies;
- has evidence of advanced proficiency in modern and classical Chinese language, evidence of advanced proficiency in modern and classical Chinese equivalent to completion of the College's Chinese language major. In exceptional circumstances, the language requirement may be waived for students with an outstanding university track record (Distinction or above) in a discipline such as history, philosophy, literature, classics or art and a demonstrated strong interest in Traditional/Classical Studies.
Selection basis
Selection will be based on:
- academic merit;
- thesis proposal;
- a letter from the potential supervisor
- language proficiency (where appropriate)
Successful applicants will be those deemed display an outstanding level of ability to undertake research in the area of Traditional Chinese Studies. Strong preference will be given to candidates with evidence of advanced proficiency in Modern and Literary Chinese language and who will use Literary Chinese language sources in their research.

The scholarship provides a stipend to the value of $9000. There are no other benefits.
