About this scholarship

The objective of the Award is to support the ongoing training and development of quantitative Earth Sciences students, through the MES(A) program at the School, while undertaking targeted research aligned with Geoscience Australia's priorities.

Funding for this Award has been provided by Geoscience Australia. Geoscience Australia (GA) is the national geoscience public sector organisation.  GA's work aligns with the national science and research priorities and supports global and domestic government initiatives. The Award will be available each year to a prospective ANU student who:

  • is a domestic student;
  • holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours (or equivalent);
  • receives an offer of admission to the Master of Earth Sciences (Advanced) degree program from the Research School of Earth Sciences;
  • selects a pre-approved project that aligns with Geoscience Australia's research priorities.

Additional information

  • Support the ongoing training and development of quantitative Earth Sciences students, through the MES(A) program at RSES, filling a recognised shortage in national expertise and enhancing GA's ability to attract numerate geosciences students to their staff pool.
  • Undertake research projects aligned with GA priorities supervised by experts at the RSES.
  • GA supported projects include co-supervision by colleagues at GA. Students will therefore experience the unique environment at GA, and be embedded within research groups at both RSES and GA.
