About this scholarship
The Oxford Australia Fund was initiated to endow scholarships each year for academically top Australian graduates to go to Oxford University for study and research.
The first scholarships were established at the Australian National University in connection with the Campaign for Oxford 1993, with donations from Australian Oxford alumni and then with a large benefaction from the late Mr James Fairfax AC. Since 1998, this Fund has awarded scholarships to more than 100 Australian graduates.
In addition to the James Fairfax fund, a number of funds linked to Oxford Colleges provide specific scholarships thanks to generous donations from their Australian alumni and matching College support:

Candidates should:
- be Australian citizens normally resident in Australia;
- hold a Bachelor's degree with First Class Honours, or the equivalent, from a recognised Australian university;
- not have previously studied for a degree at a university outside Australia.

Applicants for an Oxford Australia Scholarship must apply:
- to Oxford University, and to the relevant College for College-linked Scholarships, following the usual processes and timelines,
- in the case of Scholarships other than Clarendon-linked Scholarships, to the Oxford Australia Scholarships Committee by the date advertised and with the documentation specified on that webpage.

Vale Professor John White: Professor John White, the distinguished chemist to whom the Oxford Australia Scholarships owe their establishment and success, died in August 2023. The Oxford Australia Scholarships Committee acknowledges John's tireless work for the Scholarships, and his continuing legacy manifest through the Scholarships and their recipients.
