The objective of the award is to reward excellence in research in the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics instrumentation program or excellence in research that has a substantial instrumentation component, and to encourage outstanding students to pursue PhD degree programs in astronomy and astrophysics at the ANU with a special emphasis on instrumentation development.

Continuation based on academic performanceThe award is available each year to a new or continuing student who is enrolled in the PhD program at the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics and is working on a project in astronomy and astrophysics that incorporates instrumentation development or innovative use of instrumentation. The student must also have completed all required milestones to the satisfaction of the Delegated Authority.
Annual supplementary stipend
No application necessary. All eligible students are automatically considered for the award.
