Eligibility

 

The scholarship is awarded to prospective, International candidates who:

  • Have demonstrated H1 or H1 equivalence; and
  • Are enrolling in a full-time program (with exceptions for special circumstances to be part-time) of study for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the ANU in the subject area of RNA biology, with supervision from a member of the Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation (SDCRI).

The value of the Award is stated in the letter of offer. The Award will be paid in fortnightly instalments, unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer. 

The Award may contain any or all of the following benefits:

  1. Stipend Scholarship: A recipient may be awarded a stipend scholarship equivalent to the value of the Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) stipend scholarship. The Award is indexed each year on 1 January; and/or
  2. Shine-Dalgarno Centre PhD Supplementary Scholarship: A competitive applicant may be awarded a top-up valued at $10,000pa.
  3. Higher Degree Research (HDR) Fee Remission Merit Scholarship:  An International recipient may be recommended for an HDR Fee Remission Merit Scholarship to cover the International Student Fees for the standard duration of the Higher Degree Research (HDR) program subject to the recipient being ranked as competitive in a merit-based selection process.
  4. Paid Leave entitlements: including 60 days medical and 60 days parental leave.
  5. Thesis, Travel and Removal reimbursements: as per Conditions of Award.
  6. Dependent Child Allowance: as per Conditions of Award.

Candidates will automatically be considered upon receipt of PhD program application.
