Each year the Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre may offer the Shirley Kral Study Grant with the aim of providing encouragement and financial support to mature aged female Indigenous students with the educational expenses associated with studying an undergraduate degree at the Australian National University.

* ANU defines mature aged students as students who are over the age of 21 when they begin their undergraduate studies.
As there is only one scholarship available, if there are multiple eligible applicants, the Director, Tjabal will select a recipient giving preference, first, to a student who may have responsibility for caring for a child/children then to applicants with financial disadvantage or from a rural/regional background.
The grant provides a one-off payment of $1000 to assist with educational expenses.
