About this scholarship
In 2023, ANU re-signed an agreement with the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (hereunder referred to as "DICE") to continue the Taiwan Australian National University Scholarship until 2028.
The scholarship program commenced in 2013 and provides tuition fees and stipends for up to 5 Taiwanese students per year to undertake PhD studies at ANU over the course of the five year agreement. The scholarships will be jointly funded by ANU and DICE.

Eligibility: Scholarship is awarded on the condition that the scholar is a citizen of Taiwan who is admitted to and continues to pursue a full-time program for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at The Australian National University. Applicants should normally be resident in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Ma Tsu, although those currently residing outside Taiwan are not excluded.

Selection basis: Students selected for the Scholarships must be exemplary students who have demonstrated merit through consistently achieving high academic results.

How to apply
It is anticipated that up to 5 Taiwan-ANU PhD Scholarships will be offered in the 2026 application round (commencement year: 2027).
Application to ANU - deadline for 2026 Taiwan-ANU PhD Scholarships: 11:59 PM (AEST) on 30 November 2026.
Study must be commenced between 1 May 2027 up to 31 August 2027.
Applicants must apply to ANU for the PhD program before 30 November 2026. When completing Section 2 (Scholarships) of the ANU PhD application form, please specify under 'Other' that you will be applying for the 'Taiwan Australian National University Scholarship'
Applicants also need submit a separate scholarship application to the Taiwan Ministry of Education(DICE) 9 Nov 2026 (8.30am) to 25 Nov 2026 (midday).
