Each year the ANU School of Music offers up to four awards known as the Whitworth Roach Scholarship. The scholarship aims to encourage and support first year undergraduate students to undertake studies in classical music performance at the ANU School of Music.
Funding for this award has been provided by Ms Christine Roach.Since 2015, Ms Roach has generously supported students in classical music performance by funding the Whitworth Roach Classical Music Performance Competition. Christine has deepened her support of the School and its students with this additional award established in memory of her parents, Sylvia and William Whitworth, who encouraged Christine's love and appreciation of classical music

Selection is made on the basis of scoring a high grade of 7 or above at audition and an offer of a place in a program offered by the ANU School of Music. Other factors, such as interview at time of audition, may be taken into consideration. Preference may be given to those relocating to Canberra from a regional, rural or remote area.
The scholarship provides a stipend of between $5,000 and $10,000 per annum depending upon the number of scholarships awarded.
All applicants applying for admission to ANU through the direct Admission Scholarship and Accommodation Application will be automatically considered for the award based on them meeting the eligibility criteria and electing to be considered for scholarships.
