About this scholarship

 
Each year the ANU College of Law may offer a number of awards known as the Yuill Bursary to support ANU College of Law students ('the Award'). 
 
The objective of the Award is to provide financial assistance to ANU College of Law students facing financial hardship when undertaking an internship, clinic, overseas course or other initiatives offered by the ANU College of Law that are for course credit. Please see the eligibility section to find out the opportunities funded by the Award in the current year. 
 
Funding for this Award has been provided by the Yuill Endowment, established in memory of the late Justice Gordon Yuill of the Family Court of Australia.

Eligibility

 
The Award is available each year to a continuing ANU student who: 
  • is a domestic or international student; and 
  • is enrolled in one of the following programs at the ANU College of Law:
    •  Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons))
    • Juris Doctor (JD)
    • Master of Laws (LLM)
    • Graduate Certificate of Law (CLAW)
    • Graduate Certificate of New Technologies Law (CNTL)
    • Master of Financial Management and Law (MFIML)
    • Master of International Law and Diplomacy (MINLD); and
  • is able to demonstrate financial hardship; and 
  • has applied for, been offered a place in and intends to undertake one of the following courses:
    • LAWS4230 / LAWS6230 Law Internship (Capstone)
    • LAWS4301 / LAWS6301 Law & Development Clinic
    • LAWS4430 / LAWS8430 Law Internship

Additional information

 

The value of the award is up to $5,000 with the final amount determined based on the financial need of the applicant and the cost of the opportunity.

Please note that, if approved, the payment will not exceed the total amount of quotes/receipts submitted for the activity.

The Award is paid in a one-off instalment upon accepting the Award unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer.

Applications must be lodged before the start of the course that financial support is being requested for.
 
The Award will remain available throughout the calendar year, or until funds have run out, whichever is earliest. 
 
Students undertaking an internship, study project, conference, seminar or competition (Moot) not for course credit should apply for the ANU College of Law Discretionary Student Financial Support instead.
