Say hello to the team of ANU students harnessing the power of the sun to innovate and build state-of-the-art sustainable technology – when they’re not attending classes and lectures, of course.

ANU Solar Racing is the official solar racing team of the Australian National University (ANU), and is run entirely by students as an ANU club. The team works together to design and build solar-powered cars and competes with teams from around the world in the biennial Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC).

As the team prepares for the upcoming BWSC, we visited them to learn more about who they are, their passion for racing, and their dreams for the future.

ANU Solar Racing are just one of the incredible ANU clubs and societies you can find on campus.

Powered by the sun, driven by innovation

As you walk around the ANU Solar Racing campus workroom, you can't help but soak in the contagious drive and determination that fuels this student club. In the centre of the space sits the amazing fourth-generation solar car, a product of the hours of hard work put in by the collective of students from across the University. It's a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets purpose.

This infectious energy is not limited to the solar club. With over 110 clubs and societies at ANU, there's a place for everyone to explore and develop their interests. From sonnets at the Shakespeare Society to the strategic minds in the Chess Society, every corner of the campus is alive with activity and enthusiasm. The University’s diverse range of clubs offers the perfect environment to discover and pursue your passion and connect with other students across degrees and disciplines. If you can't find a club that engages your interests, you can start your own!
