Subject Adjustment Scheme

The Subject Adjustment Scheme recognises strong achievement in selected Year 12 subjects by adding adjustment factors to your ANU selection rank.
You do not need to apply for subject adjustment factors. If you're eligible, they will be automatically applied to your selection rank based on your Year 12 results.
International students completing an Australian Year 12 qualification or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, either in Australia or overseas, may also be eligible if they apply to ANU through UAC.
How many adjustment factors can you receive?
For 2027 entry, you can receive up to 3 subject adjustment factors.
The Elite Athlete Friendly University Entry Scheme and Subject Adjustment Scheme share a combined cap of 5 adjustment factors, within your overall limit of 15. Excluded programs don't accept adjustment factors from these two schemes at all.
From 2028 entry onwards, the Subject Adjustment Scheme will be discontinued.
Subject Adjustment Schedule
The number of adjustment factors you may receive depends on the subject you completed and the result you achieved.

*Subjects are listed as NSW HSC courses. For subject equivalencies in other Australian states, refer to the UAC website. Subjects for which there is no NSW HSC equivalent are not eligible for subject adjustment factors. All ACT subjects must be completed as a Major at minimum, unless specified otherwise.
**Scores listed in this table reflect the minimum grade required for adjustment factors to be awarded. Refer to the UAC website to find the grade equivalencies for other Australian states.
Check your overall eligibility
You must also meet the general eligibility requirements for ANU adjustment factors, including having a selection rank of at least 70 before adjustment factors are applied.
