How to apply - Domestic Undergraduate

Submitting a direct application to ANU is simple.

Make sure you're ready to apply by following the steps below.

Step 1 - Check you're eligible to submit a direct application to ANU

You are eligible if:

  • You completed Australian Year 11 or International Baccalaureate Year 11 and will complete your Australian Year 12 studies (with an ATAR) in 2024 or an International Baccalaureate Diploma in November 2024.
  • You will be applying for an undergraduate program that starts in 2025.
  • You are a domestic student, this includes:
    • Australian citizens;
    • New Zealand citizens;
    • Holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa; and
    • Permanent residents of Australia.

Step 2 - Consider which ANU programs are best for you

View Programs and Courses to find a program that best suits your interests.

You can also view admission requirements including minimum selection rank, prerequisites, study options, and any additional entry requirements that are required as part of your application.

Step 3 - Check that you meet the co-curricular or service requirement

The co-curricular or service requirement considers the knowledge you have developed outside of the classroom and recognises this in your ANU application.

You'll need to provide documentation to support your activities over the last two years, such as school reports or certificates for community activities. You can view examples of documentation we accept, or use our supporting documentation template to help.

Find out if you meet the requirements by using our co-curricular or service calculator.

Step 4 - Elect to be considered for a scholarship

You can nominate to be considered for a large suite of ANU scholarships within your application--simply select ‘yes’ when prompted.

Learn more about your scholarship options.

Step 5 - Explore your accommodation options

On-campus accommodation is guaranteed as part of your application. You can choose either a catered, flexi catered or self-catered experience and we'll make every effort to place you in your preferred Residence or College.

View your accommodation options so you know which Residence to nominate in your application.

If you are not planning to live on campus you can still experience ANU life to the full by joining a non-residential hall once you arrive.

Step 6 - Prepare your supporting documentation

You are required to provide supporting documentation as part of your application, including:

  • official ID (birth certificate, citizenship documents, passport) – Note, these ID documents are not compulsory, to submit your application
  • details of your senior secondary studies and current qualifications
  • documents supporting your co-curricular or service activities
  • documents supporting your eligibility for the  ANU Adjustment Factors (academic, equity and elite athlete adjustment factors)

You need to upload your relevant document into your application before the application closing date.
