Every year, people across Australia come to ANU Open Day. It's a chance for you to meet each other, tour the campus, learn about degrees and student accommodation, and hear from current students about campus life.
Read on and learn how to get all the information you’re after. Getting the most out of your ANU Open Day includes discovering what it feels like to be part of our community and how to apply to study here.
Overview
Check out the ANU Open Day program online or pick up a copy when you arrive on campus. There are information sessions hosted by the seven academic colleges, our residential services and global program teams, plus cultural and social activities.
Information sessions are opportunities to learn from course conveners and staff presenting the sessions. From them, you’ll get info much faster than searching for it online.
Uni life is about so much more than studying. That's why you should browse the expo booths for the services that will make your journey smooth while you’re at ANU, like student services, admissions, scholarships, global programs and the student association.
If you've been wondering what ANU clubs and societies are like, talk to students about club activities, how to join in and what being a member involves. With over 110 clubs, if you're interested in something, chances are there's an ANU club for it. You can even learn how to start your own!
You'll also see stalls run by ANU teams that can give you more info about studying abroad, internships, scholarships or student support services. If you’re looking to study a postgraduate qualification, check out the dedicated postgraduate information sessions and talk with our academics, program directors and staff about the options that can advance your career or help you switch to a new field.

Set aside time for tours. The ANU campus makes for a gorgeous scenic walk, and if you decide to apply and accept an offer from ANU, you'll be glad to have gained some campus familiarity.
Touring the campus also lets you check out important buildings like the libraries, student residences and museums and see how they stack up. Many of our student residences conduct tours on the day.
To join a general guided tour of the campus led by our future students’ team, meet up with the guide at the campus tour tents on the University Avenue lawns. Wear good walking shoes with a hat, bring a drink bottle and you’ll be ready for anything!
Our academic colleges offer tours around their unique facilities and buildings, so take part if you have the time. They show off spaces like speech and language labs, recording studios, lecture halls, art studios, science, health and medicine precincts, study areas, innovative technological tools and resources.
A tour is a great way to familiarise yourself with learning spaces and soak up the campus atmosphere.

If you’re after the ultimate uni life experience, living in a student residence is your best bet—so check them out. A room in a student residence puts you on or near campus and is cheaper than most other rental options. We guarantee and offer most first-year, first-semester students a room in a residence, which is one less thing to worry about while you’re finishing Year 12.
Check out the rooms and common areas to find your preferred place to live. That way, you’ll know which ones to put on your list of preferences when you apply directly to ANU between March and May at the start of Year 12 (or through the accommodation portal if you apply through the Universities Admission Centre later in the year).
There are also events held by Residential Services during ANU Open Day that explore the transition to residence living and how to apply. Attending these events is an excellent idea if you still have accommodation questions to ask, so make time for them.

Students often need help to study for a degree. If you’re one of them (and most need support at some time or another), getting the most out of your ANU Open Day could be learning that you’ll be supported during times of stress.
Discover the help we provide with creating a timetable, paying fees, and asking for extensions or adjustments to exams, equipment and access if you’re living with illness, disability or participating in elite sport.
ANU Open Day is a great opportunity to meet the people in charge of this support too: our Student Life and Accessibility teams. By chatting with them, you can get the full picture of support services at ANU and how to access them from the start. It's a great way to reassure yourself that people will always be around to help you thrive at university.
Plus, if you have any concerns or know what help you'll need upfront, you can use this opportunity to ask our staff how ANU can support your unique situation from the application stage.

We've got plenty of people at Open Day ready to tell you how great ANU is – but don't just take our word for it! Current students attend Open Day, so you'll see them hanging around. They take part in information sessions, labs, discussions and more.
If you want to hear what it's like to study here straight from the horse's mouth, there's no better chance. Ask them about an average day at ANU, the difference between a lecture and a tutorial, and which courses they love the most and why. No matter the question, you'll have plenty of students ready with answers.
Make sure you’re getting the most out of your ANU Open Day. Come along and give yourself the whole day between 9am and 3pm to explore. We can’t wait to meet you!
